There are many workers around our country and the world that are exposed to extreme heat conditions while on the job every day. It is hard enough to do strenuous work at cool, normal temperatures, but there are working conditions where intense temperatures are a common occurrence and manual labor is the titled position. Workers who are fairly new on the job and not experienced with high temperatures are the most at risk, as are those who wear heavy and bulky protective clothing.

Many people today have witnessed someone they love, or known somebody who has lost their lives trough the battle of drug addiction. When you hear or think about someone dying of a drug overdose, you wonder what drug took control of that person’s life. Prescription pain killers are the number one cause of overdose deaths in the country. Methadone although only accounting for 2% of painkiller prescriptions in the United States causes over 30% of pain killer related overdoses, this is more than heroin and cocaine combined. Clearly, by hearing this one fact, you can tell how highly addictive and dangerous the drug methadone is.

Working at the office can easily turn into an unhealthy lifestyle routine. Once that routine is established, it is oh so hard to break this vicious cycle. What do we mean by unhealthy lifestyle? Well here is an example: lunch time rolls around the corner and nothing sounds better than ordering delivery for a large plain pie from that delicious pizza place around the corner. Two hours later, you’re still hungry, and you are now snacking on a bag of Doritos from the office vending machine. Picture this, a combination of eating the pizza, snacking on the chips, and not moving from your desk for about 5 hours. Sound too familiar? We know.

Employers today have a lot to consider when they are hiring an employee for their company or corporation. First, they will determine whether the candidate is qualified to fit the position, and how well they will be able to adjust to their new working environment. Once this decision has been made, there is a something else that needs to be determined; will this well qualified person be able to pass a drug test?

In the United States today coronary artery disease, or (CAD), is the most prevalent type of heart disease. If it is not prevented or in some cases treated, CAD can eventually lead to the horrible fate of heart attacks or heart failure. Some other types of heart disease include, an Enlarged Heart (Cardiomegaly), Irregular Heart Rhythm, Heart Valve Disease, and many more. Why is it so important to pay attention and take care of that good ol’ heart of yours? Well statistics show that in 2008, 25% of deaths were related to heart disease, almost resulting to one in every four in the United States.
